St. David’s Foundation created Health’s Angels to provide charitable support to nonprofit organizations serving older adults and their families. This focus was chosen in response to rising needs, as the population aged 65 and older is growing rapidly without a corresponding increase in services, and for its resonance with individual families who face the challenges of aging. By marshaling people and resources, Health’s Angels provides help for thousands of older adults in our community.

Membership Members are united in compassion, community engagement and collaboration. We work together to build awareness of issues facing older adults and serve as public service ambassadors. Membership also includes group volunteer activities with partner organizations, educational presentations and fun networking events.

Participatory Philanthropy
How does it feel to give away $80,000? As a Health’s Angels member, you will find out. Once a year, members participate in awarding a $80,000 Health’s Angels grant to a local nonprofit organization that serves older adults. Any such 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Central Texas is eligible to apply for this grant (including those currently funded by the Foundation).

The 2011 Health’s Angels grant was awarded to Austin Speech Labs.
